Rams-Chiefs Monday Night Preview

This week's Monday Night Football game has the potential to be one of the best games of the 2018-19 NFL season, with the 9-1 Kansas City Chiefs taking on the 9-1 Los Angeles Rams.

The game was originally scheduled to take place in Mexico City at the famous Estadio Azteca, however due to poor field conditions the NFL has decided to move the game to Los Angeles as a Rams home game. This decision by the NFL was met with some scrutiny, but overall the NFL made the right call. The last thing the Rams, Chiefs or the NFL wants is a star player on one of the best teams in the league to get hurt because of field conditions.

While the loss of a neutral field is a negative for the Chiefs, the reality is that the move shouldn't affect the game that much. There will still be thousands of Chiefs fans in Los Angeles for the game, just as there was in Week 1 of this season, when the Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers and despite it being a Chargers home game, the Chiefs fans vastly outnumbered them. Chiefs fans are one of the best travelling fan bases in the league, and there will be plenty of red at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum this Monday night.

Chiefs-Chargers Week 1
Because of the two high-powered offences that the Rams and Chiefs each possess, Vegas has set the over/under at 63.5 points, which is an all-time high. Since 1990, no over/under has been set higher than 62 points for an individual game. The crazy part is that I wouldn't be surprised at all if the over is hit, and even passed by 10 points or so. These two teams are absolutely capable of each getting 40 points, just as we saw in Week 6 when the Chiefs played the New England Patriots and lost 43-40.

This should be a thrilling game with lots of highlights and great plays, and in the end it will come down to which defence is able to somewhat slowdown the other teams potent offensive attack. The one reason why I'm picking Kansas City is because Los Angeles just lost their top wide receiver Cooper Kupp for the year to a torn ACL, which could slightly slow down their offense. I honestly don't see a way in which both teams don't surpass 30 points, and I can't wait to see Andy Reid & Sean McVay go head-to-head and see which offensive mastermind can come out on top.

Final Score Prediction: 42-38 Chiefs
